How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Hypnotherapy is about change and  works by using hypnosis to access and communicate with the sub-conscious mind in order to create positive changes in your life. Hypnosis is commonly described as an “altered state of consciousness” or a “deep relaxation”, sometimes it is referred to as a trance. This form of therapy can help to create desired changes quickly, in a safe and drug free manner, and has been recognized and successfully used for over a century.

Will I Lose Control?

This is a myth. During hypnotherapy you always have control – you can hear and be aware of what is going on around you.  Hypnosis is simply just a natural state of relaxation that we can encounter every day in our lives. Common examples of this state can occur just before you fall asleep and as you wake up; also after having driven to a familiar destination in an ‘automatic’ state and find that you do not  remember the details of the journey; being immersed in a book, listening to music or indeed being engrossed watching a film. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything that is against your will, morals and ethics.  In truth all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.

Can Hypnotherapy Work With Children?

Yes of course, hypnotherapy works great with children. I use metaphors a lot in my hypnotherapy sessions and children are very receptive to this method. Hypnosis is a powerful life skill and is wonderful for de-stressing, helping to relax and restoring a healthy energy to your mind and body.  It gives a sense of control, enabling you to make positive changes to connect to your mind and body’s health and wellbeing. This can help keep you motivated, calm, and centered in your life.  Hypnotherapy is about making positive changes in your life.
